Mark Frisch is a Principal with SCB, where his role as a Technical Design Lead has resulted in numerous awards, including AIA National Honor Awards, AIA Chicago’s Distinguished Building Award, and the Leaf Award for Best Use of Technology. His diverse portfolio of multi-family residential, office, science and technology, aviation, and higher education projects reflects a close collaboration with internationally-known engineering and energy consultants for the design of integrated, high performance buildings. Mark oversees technical and sustainability design initiatives, systems and materials research, and quality assurance/quality control for SCB and chairs the firm’s Building Technology Committee.
Mark is a regular design critic for the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign, Illinois Institute of Technology, and Northwestern University’s Architectural Engineering and Design (AED) Program. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA) and has served on the Advisory Group and Sustainable Group of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitats (CTBUH). He was a White House appointment to the Department of Homeland Security’s Advisory Council Sustainability and Efficiency Task Force, where he led the Energy and Building subgroup. He is President of the Shore Line Place Senior Housing Board and a member of the Board of Directors of Sinai Health System. Mark received his Bachelor of Science with Honors and Master of Architecture degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he was a Long Fellowship recipient.
